Conservatism, Baptists…19 kids and counting

Where is the line between decisions of conscience and an absence of social responsibility? How many children before one says that is just too many? American is home to many conservative Christians and the Duggar family is just one more. Their conservative interpretation of their Baptist faith has left them to conclude that only God should determine how many children they end up with. Michelle Duggar just gave birth to her 19th.
While many people would be appalled by such a lack of consideration as to the societal impacts, in a case on only in America the Duggars have become the darling of the evangelical set and even have their own TV reality show entitled ‘18 Kids and counting’. While we are supportive of their right to practice their faith, there are an abundance of children out there in care institutions that could happily benefit from a roof over their heads and food in their tummies. For us, 18 and still counting was already an abomination, and now at 19 it appears that their genetic set will be secure for generations to come. Some will think that a good thing, some may not…
US cable network TLC said 43-year-old Michelle Duggar gave birth to a one-pound, six-ounce (o.62kg) daughter on Thursday night during an emergency cesarean section. She had been due on March 18.
TLC said the child was in stable condition at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
The network airs the show starring Duggar, her 44-year-old husband and their family. It said the Duggars named their 19th child and ninth daughter Josie Brooklyn. The Duggar’s; first grandchild was born on October 8.
The family lives in a 7,000-square-foot (650.3-square-metre) house in Arkansas, where they manage commercial real estate property. The couple has said they’ll continue welcoming children as long as Michelle is able to have them

I greatly admire this family and believe they are rearing their children with the right values and beliefs. What a joy to watch them whenever I am free to do so. I am not a Baptist, but an Episcopalian, so it is not a common religion that has influenced me. I wish more of us lived and breathed our beliefs as the Duggars do.

I think you have missed the point of the article, or ignored it. I guess that is the way of people who see what they see and nothing else
